Bob Werneke

Robert Werneke of Medford, OK passed away on April 21, 2025. Robert was born July 17, 1929 in Caldwell, KS to Ed and Lillie Werneke. He was raised on the family farm South East of Renfrow, OK. He graduated from Deer Creek High School in 1947. He married Sally Barnes on July 17, 1950. They were married 62 years when Sally passed. Bob was a lifelong farmer who loved to farm, he also worked at the Blackwell Zinc Company until it closed. He then began working for Grant County District 2 in 1990 until his retirement in September 2015.

Robert is preceded in death by his wife Sally, parents Ed and Lillie Werneke; sister Opal Lebeda.

He is survived by his children: Larry Werneke and wife Sandy of Manhattan, KS; Karen Hoffman and husband Mark of Okeene, OK and Lea Ann Hobbs and husband Dale of Lamont, OK. He is also survived he his grandchildren: Amber Chain and husband Kelly of Seiling, OK, Ashlea Parker (Cody) of Weatherford, OK, Autumn Shackelford (Ira) of Lavon, TX, Laura Werneke (Anthony) of Lincoln, NE, Ryan Werneke (Amanda) of Enid, OK, Jillian Carrico (Chaunce) of Claremore, OK, and Jaden Hobbs of Olathe, KS; great-grandchildren: Blake & Baylee Chain, Lily & Kye Parker, Eli & Noah Shackelford, Reed & Harper Werneke and Stiles Carrico. He is also survived by his sister Lois Shellhammer of Caldwell, KS as well as other family members.

Private Services will be held.

Visitation will be held 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tuesday & Wednesday and 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday.

Memorials may be made to the Caldwell City Cemetery and sent in care of the mortuary.
