Carol Milbourn


Carol Lee (Chaplin) Milbourn of Springfield, Missouri passed away on February 23, 2024 in Springfield, Missouri. Carol was born on November 28, 1936 in Winfield, Kansas to C. Stedman and Hazel (Smith) Chaplin. She was raised and attended schools in Arkansas City, Kansas.

After her marriage to Clarence C. Milbourn of Caldwell, Kansas they and their children lived in Caldwell and Wellington, Kansas, El Paso and Houston Texas and in 1967 moved to the Washington D.C. area, later living in Springfield, Virginia until Clarences’ retirement in 1989. They then settled in the Roanoke, Virginia area and later Mesa, Arizona.

While in Springfield, Carol worked for the J.C. Penney Company from 1972 to 1982. She then became involved in the hobby of genealogy. She was a member of a large number of genealogical societies and enjoyed attending various conferences and workshops.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, husband Clarence, infant son Randall, and two sisters Shirley Kent and Belle Turnbull.

Carol leaves her son Craig Milbourn and his wife Georgette of Scottsdale, AZ, daughter Cindy Hansen and her husband Gordon of Buffalo, MO, daughter Cathy Diamantes and her husband John of Springfield, VA, and grandchildren Lane Brandt, Blake and Zachary Hansen, and Brenna and John Patrick Diamantes, 6 great-grandchildren, sister Charlene Shaw and her husband Glenn of Rodgers, AR, and numerous nieces and nephews.


Following cremation, a private family service will be held. Inurnment will be at Caldwell City Cemetery, Caldwell, Kansas.


Memorials may be made to the Chaplin Nature Center in care of the Wichita Audubon Society, PO Box 47607, Wichita, Kansas, 67201.
