Diana Cassady

Diana Jean (Campbell) Cassady, 74, was born Feb. 11, 1949 in Miami, OK to Roy Campbell and Ruth Jean (Marsh) Campbell. She departed this life on Apr. 17, 2023.

She grew up in Texas and Oklahoma and graduated from Western Heights High School. She attended Cowley Community College where she met, and later married, Bill Grudier. They had two daughters, Denise and Erin. She always told everyone that raising her girls was her biggest accomplishment, and she accomplished that with honors. While being the Girl Scout cookie mom, dorm mother, on-call seamstress, and wife, she somehow had time to earn her Associate RN degree at Northern Oklahoma College in Tonkawa, OK. After moving to Stillwater, OK, and while raising two teen girls on her own, she received her Bachelor's degree in Recreational Therapy from Oklahoma State University. Diana worked as a recreational therapist in Harlingen, TX and Edmond, OK. She later met and married BJ Cassady in Edmond, OK where they resided before settling in Caldwell, KS. While in Caldwell, she was a deacon in her church and enjoyed singing at any opportunity.

Diana enjoyed being a mom, Nana, and wife. She had a beautiful and loud soprano voice and relished singing. She sang for various groups/organizations and on every occasion or any time she felt like it really. Her family benefited from her sewing ability in the many Halloween costumes and various needs for special occasions that arose. She loved to cook, especially baking pies and cinnamon rolls. Diana was fascinated with nature and passed that on to her girls through camping and gardening. It was once said of her that if an elephant came to the door she would take it in, and thank Heavens one never showed up because that was probably true. She liked her time with pets. Her dog, Dax, will miss her. Besides pets, she collected angels. Now she will get to see the real ones!

Preceding her in death were her parents, her sister Margaret (Campbell) Schipper, and brothers Gary Campbell, Roy Seay Campbell, and Roger Wayne Campbell.

Diana will be missed by her husband, BJ, of the home, her daughters Denise Nunn and husband Adam and Erin Wilhoit and husband Frank, and her brother Paul Campbell and wife Aud. She will be missed by her 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren as well as a host of family and many friends.

Memorial services will be held, Monday, May 29, 2023 at 1 p.m. at the Christian Life Church, 205 Thunderbird Rd., Tonkawa, OK, 74653.

Memorials may be made to the ASPCA and sent in care of the mortuary.
