Doris Jackson

April 26, 1929 ~ November 22, 2017

Doris C. Jackson loving wife, mother, and grandmother entered eternal life on Wednesday November 22, 2017. Doris graduated from Caldwell High School in 1947. She met the one and only love of her life, Robert L. Jackson and they were married in 1947. She was a devoted wife and mother. She was creative, fun-loving, and had a willingness to laugh and hug anyone that was nearby. She loved the San Antonio Police department and enjoyed a visit from an officer while recovering at the house. Doris, like her husband had a keen sense of humor. Doris and Bob frequently went out to eat and they both enjoyed cutting up with the staff. She thought that tipping was also important; she said, “it is like tithing or giving to the church.” Doris shared her husband’s love for flying by sewing and constructing the upholstery for the cockpits of Robert’s airplanes. She was on the verge of graduating to get her wings, but decided that one pilot in the family was enough. They loved adventure and loved sharing their love of life by taking a last minute road trip by motorcycle to Pike’s Peak. Each one was a free spirit that enjoyed the adventures of life and their love for each other. She was creative and always in fashion and could predict the latest styles. Doris was good-hearted and felt a need to rescue any animal by bringing them home. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Clara and Claude Hess and her step-brother, Thomas Hess of South Haven, Kansas. She is survived by her sisters, Eleanor Youman, Phyllis Atkinson, and Geraldine Dacier. She also is survived by her children; Claudia and her husband Mick Fitts of Ruidoso New Mexico, Robert B and his wife Susan Jackson of Riverview, Florida, Celeste Huddleston, Theresa Jackson, and Mark Jackson and his wife Rachel from San Antonio, Texas. She leaves behind her beloved grandkids and numerous great grandchildren. We also extend a hug and many thanks to all the caregivers for their love and care of Mom.

Memorials may be given in memory of Doris to the Corzine Cemetery and left in care of the mortuary.

A funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 2, 2017 at the United Methodist Church in Corbin, Kansas.

Interment will be in the Corzine Cemetery, Corbin, Kansas.
