Elizabeth Ann Williams

August 19, 1944 ~ May 7, 2018

Elizabeth Ann (Bobek) Williams, age 73, passed away on May 7, 2018. Elizabeth had been a resident at Meadowlark Hills Retirement Home, Sloan House, in Manhattan, KS, since November 2016.

Elizabeth was born on August 19, 1944, to Jerry and Berta Bobek in Caldwell, KS. She was the youngest sibling, following Mary Elaine and Jerry Jr. Most of us remember her most fondly as “Frickie,” a nickname her sister Mary gave her as a child. “FRICK!” “Frickie!” was heard all over town.

Elizabeth married Craig Williams on August 14, 1965, in Caldwell, KS. Craig & Frickie were blessed with two children: Brad Williams (Shelly) and Susan Howard (Derek), and five grandchildren, Grant, Garrin, Blaise, Chance and Morgan. Grandma and Grandpa loved attending any event to watch their grandchildren perform, and spending birthdays and holidays with their family.

Craig and Frickie made Manhattan, KS, their home in 1994, where they could spend their years cheering on K-State, attending alumni events, and later attending nearby grandchildren’s events. Elizabeth enjoyed playing bridge at the Country Club each week where not only was she good company with the ladies but a shark with her cards. This was the highlight of her week.

Elizabeth was a strong woman who courageously battled multiple sclerosis for 33+ years. Although she was physically limited due to the disease, she made the best of being adventurous and active on her scooter. Her oldest granddaughter said she had nine lives, as she beat breast cancer, a heart attack, and taking care of her ornery husband for 50 years!

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother and husband. She was most looking forward to sky diving, riding horses, being her Grandson Grant’s co-pilot and running in Heaven!

Graveside services for Elizabeth will held be Sunday, May 27, 2018, at 1:00pm at the Caldwell Cemetery, Caldwell, KS.

Memorials in Frickie’s honor, can be made to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital in memory of Elizabeth Frickie Williams at www.stjude.org, 1-800-822-6344 or mail to 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

So sad to hear about Frickie. She was, no doubt, the nicest person in the world. She hung in there through so much and I loved the part about "her ornery husbend". He so adored her and I can see them together again in their K-State purple. Thinking of you all.

Like all of her friends we were saddened to learn of Frickies passing. In spite of her significant health problems she always managed to maintain a positive outlook. It was always a treat to be together with her. We will all miss her positive outlook and smiling face.

Will miss those trips to Manhattan and banter filled phone calls

Such a dear person!!! We spent many an afternoon riding horses growing up.

Since we were only born 11 days apart, we were very close. We got even closer on those long rides back and forth from Caldwell to Manhattan and back during college. It was neat having a best friend who was also your cousin.

As other have said, What a courageous person in the face of MS. I love the picture you've chosen!!

So sorry.

Bill and Nancy ... - 05/23/2018

Bill and I were gone and when we returned home we saw Fricke's obituary in our newspaper. She really was a very sweet lady who always had a smile on her face. She certainly faced major health obstacles all her life, but we never heard her complain. We know you all will miss her so much. Our sympathy. Bill and Nancy Volkmann
