Georgia Pearl (Kiser) Smith was born Nov. 22, 1919 northeast of Freeport near Argonia, KS the sixth of eight children born to Willis S. and Mary Eva (Duncan) Kiser.
She married Kenneth Smith at the courthouse in Wellington, KS on April 8, 1939. To this union two children were born: Barbara and Bill.
Kenny and Georgia made their home in the Pilot Knob area around Freeport and later in Anthony before moving to Caldwell in 1988.
Kenny and Georgia owned Smith Station and Grocery on east Main in Anthony for several years before purchasing grocery stores in Corbin and South Haven, Ks. They sold them and returned to Anthony where Georgia worked for Supreme Market and baby sit for many years. After retiring, she went to work for the Job Service Center through Kansas State Employment Agency when she retired again in March 1988. At that time, they moved to Caldwell where she worked for Cleda’s, Wild Bill’s and then the Nostalgia Nook.
Georgia was a lifetime member of the Anthony Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star where she held every chair and was a Past District Aide. She was also a member of the Central Christian Church in Caldwell, A.T.A. and Busy Hands clubs. She enjoyed crocheting, embroidering, camping and visiting with others especially on winter trips to Florida to see Bill and Kay where she got to visit with Guy & Audrey.
Georgia passed away early Wednesday morning, August 28, 2019 at the Anthony Community Care Center where she had resided the past 3 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Kenneth in 2005, son-in-law Floyd Mardis in April 2019, sisters: Hulda, Betty, Lenora Claribel and Wilma Jones, brother: Wayne Kiser, and a great-grandson Denton Rex Mardis.
She is survived by her daughter Barbara Mardis of Ozark, MO; son Bill (Kay) Smith of Orlando, FL; one sister Pat (Bob) Kadau of Winfield, KS; five grandchildren: Kenny (Norma) Mardis of Merriam Woods, MO, Debbie (Chris) Webster of Ozark, MO, David (Teresa) Mardis of Caldwell, KS, Richard Mardis of Wichita, KS and Guy Smith of Orlando, FL; 15 great and great-great grandchildren, numerous others relatives and friends. One of her biggest highlights in the past two months was when baby Maverick met great-great-grandma Georgia. She smiled for three days after that.
Memorials in memory of Georgia may be made to the Caldwell Historical Society or to the Central Christian Church and may be left in care of the mortuary.
A Celebration of Life will be held 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Saturday, August 31, 2019 at the Opera House in Caldwell.

I am so sorry to hear of Georgia's passing. She was such a sweet lady and had such a beautiful smile. I met Georgia at Eastern Star and enjoyed talking to her.

We were sorry to hear of Georgia's passing. She as such a lovely and sweet person. We enjoyed being neighbors with her and Kenny on Webb Street. It was also fun being in A.T.A. with them. She was so talented with her crocheting and handwork. On a few occasions she watched our first born son. It was nice to visit with her and Kenney and later with her at the Friendship village. She was always the first to send us a Christmas card each year. We were glad to see that she almost made it to 100. She will be missed.
