Glen E. White

July 17, 1935 ~ September 18, 2017

Glen Eugene White, age 82, of Caldwell, Kansas, passed away on Sept 18, 2017. Services will be held at the Ponderosa, one of Glen’s most cherished farms, at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 23, 2017. Following the service there will be a celebration, from 3:00-5:30, at Sugar Sister’s located at 20 S. Main in Caldwell where family and friends will join to honor “The Glen White Life”…honoring Faith, Family and FUN.

Glen was born in Caldwell, Kansas on July 17, 1935, to John Alva and Jeanette Elizabeth (Nettie) Tibbits White. He was the youngest of five children born to this marriage and the first to be born in Caldwell Hospital, the others being born at home. His siblings were Genevieve (White) Wooderson, Maxine (White) Stewart, Phyllis (White) Cadek, and Richard White.

Glen graduated from Caldwell High School in the Class of 1953 and went onto complete two years of college education, the first at Ark City Junior College (ACJC) and the following year at Kansas State University. Glen began his education in a country school, where he would ride his horse to school and was taught by his sister Maxine (White) Stewart.

He served his country for two years, serving in the United State Army. Upon leaving the service he returned to Caldwell where he farmed and ran cattle with his brother Richard… the ‘R&G White Brothers’, until his retirement in 1999.

Glen was married to Kim Lynette (Goff) on September 7, 1979. Glen has one son, Jason White and his wife Amy of Springdale, Maryland and a grand-daughter, Alexandria White of Atchison, Ks. He was Uncle Glen to many nieces and nephews and was an ‘adopted and voted in’ member of the Fast family.

Caldwell was the community Glen loved and in which he avidly participated. He was a member of and served in the following; Caldwell United Methodist Church member, Farmer’s Co-op member and past board member, Jaycee’s member and past board member, Caldwell Alumni Association member and past board member (he could recall the class year for many (most) of Caldwell’s alumni), Caldwell Sportsman Club a founding member.

Glen’s Legacy was to be known as a hard worker…..but, also, that he knew how to have fun with any age person. He was passionate about his past-time activities; hunting (deer, pheasant, quail, turkey) heading out after chores with Richard to bird hunt and in recent years participating with King, Kelly and the boys in the yearly bird hunt, fishing…taking yearly trips to trout fish in Colorado and Mountain Home, Arkansas, as well as stripper fishing annually at Lake Texoma…any place you could wet a hook. He delighted in serving South Haven schools as a school bus driver and boasted the title of driving the South Haven girls’ basketball team when they won the Kansas State Championship.

Glen enjoyed life, enjoyed people, enjoyed his friendships of all ages, young and old and especially with his Big Brother Richard and life-long friend Lee Roy Fast. He enjoyed working for Turek Farms (Thank you Greg & Lacy) and he enjoyed the Domino players….Dale Berline and whomever Dale could round up.

Glen was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Genevieve and Maxine.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to USD 360 Caldwell Schools or Caldwell United Methodist Church and may be left with the Mortuary.

Dear Sweet Kim,

Gayla Hudson - 09/19/2017

I am so sorry for your loss. I have wonderful memories of Glen going way back to my Jr. High days. We (Lee's) even had my 14th birthday dinner at his house out on the highway back in 1970.

My heart goes out to you and the White/Goff families. You two made quite a couple, and I always enjoyed being around you both.

{{{Hugs}}} and Prayers to you...

Gayla

Kim I am so sorry to hear of Glenn's passing. Living in Wisconsin I don't get the news as fast. He was such a sweet and gentle man. He was a wonderful man to talk to at the club. Will miss seeing his sweet smile when ever I get the chance to come back for a visit. You and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers.

I'm sorry to hear of your loss. I have great memories of "Uncle Glen" from my childhood through high school and college. Almost every time I visited Caldwell in the past 30+ years, I would run into him at one of the cafes or local events, and he would always great me with his big smile, a handshake, and that signature baritone voice "Hello Michael Dean." He was a great member of the local community!

Kim, I am so sorry to hear of Glen's passing. I know how much my dad enjoyed his friendship with Glen. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. One of my favorite memories of Glen was when he dressed up as Santa and came over to play a prank on my dad at my grandmother's house. I have a great picture of them together. I never saw my dad laugh so hard and probably my grandma, too. Wendy
