My condolences go to the family of Helen Knowles. I knew her as Miss Hoyt, my freshman English teacher in 1952-53 in Caldwell, Kansas. She was a very enthusiastic teacher and was a great influence on my becoming a teacher, also. I know that she was special to so many students during her teaching career. She was certainly a wonderful influence in my life. She made teaching so exciting to me.

Helen was also Miss Hoyt to me as she was my English teacher my freshman and sophomore years at Caldwell. In fact, fellow classmate, Sibyl Ingle Snyder and I were candlelighters at her wedding to Louie Knowles. Her sister, Carol, married a cousin of mine, Paul Hess. Helen was, indeed, a special lady. My condolences to her family.
