December 23, 1924 ~ August 31, 2019
Jean Francis Mitchell Troutman was 94 years old and born Dec. 23, 1924 in Caldwell, Kansas where she resided most of her life. Jean married Wendell Lewis Troutman May 13, 1941. She was married to Wendell for 49 years before his death. She was preceded in death by husband Wendell; daughter Donna; her mother Jean Mitchell Hearlson, father Earl Mitchell; sisters Helen, Earlene, Betty; brother Sonny and son-in-law Jeff Hicks. She had five girls all born in Caldwell: Judy and Jack Ritzler in Caldwell, Marilyn and Larry Driskell of Wellington Carol and Bob Sterling of Edmond and Gayla Hicks of the home; sister Bonnie of Kingfisher, Oklahoma; several grandkids and great grandkids. Grandsons serving as casket bearers are Chad Anton, Larry Driskell, Isaac Cole, Isaiah Cole, Rodney Driskell, Chris Cole, and Steve Saffell.
Jean remained in her home until her death following a brief illness with pneumonia with Gayla caring for her.
She was such a happy person and a very loving and caring mother and would listen for hours to her girls on the phone while her girls presented their daily ordeals and problems and just anything that came to mind. They could always depend on her to be there on the other end no matter what day or night! Jean was also quite the conversationalist!
Also, she had quite a talent for sewing. Whatever was in style she could whip it up in no time on the sewing machine. She also made beautiful sweaters! Like Donna said she was such a young girl when she got married and to have five girls and to work the whole time they were at home was so remarkable and to do such a good job raising them. Jean also loved taking trips with Wendell and her daughters. That was one of the highlights of her life. She saw herself as a world traveler as she had been to many of the 50 states and to foreign countries as well. Jean always said she had a life well lived and she was going down the road of no return.
The girls could go on and on about their mother about the wonderful things she did for all of them but they could never say enough.
Jean loved coming to Edmond to stay with Carol. Bob said he would no longer have anyone to tease since Jean is gone. Holidays were the highlights of her years. She whipped up the divinity that no one could ever duplicate and everyone else’s would turn into a flop. “Help us mom.” She ran the Trail Drive Inn which at Homecoming was noted as one of the “Icons of Caldwell.” Great Hamburgers mom! She and her family had great homecomings together almost every year at Caldwell High School. They had all of those trips to Branson to remember of course. Marilyn had her heart set on homecoming & Branson again this year. Well she is finally taking the trip of her life down the road of no return where she will meet grandma, dad and Donna.
“Eventually we’ll meet you down that road of no return. Love you mom!”
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church in Caldwell.
Memorials may be given in memory of Jean to the Caldwell United Methodist Church and may be left in care of the mortuary.

We wish we could be there for your service on Saturday. We know you’re already in heaven with Jesus and the rest of our family. We are so thankful that Aunt Gayla was there with you showing you unconditional love for over 8 years.
She has always been a wonderful, loving daughter. You mean so much to us, we love you very much and you are in our hearts and prayers forever.

I love you so much Granny. Words can’t describe how broken hearted I am. I am thankful for the 43 years I got with you! I know that you are in Heaven healthy and whole. Give my daddy, Grandpa, Aunt Donna, and baby Jacob a big hug from me. In my heart you’ll forever be.

Grandma,
I thought of something I wanted to share about one of the last times you got to see My Daughter. We met you in Vegas with one of your daughters and Rose stayed with You in the room when I went out for a while. As a 7 year old girl Rose was so interested in hearing about how it was in the old days. I know Grandma by what you said to me that Rose was so old for her age wondering how it was when you grew up and also in the depression and really concerned about You. That is one memory you brought up to me many times throughout our conversations. Rose and I miss You so much. Until we meet again Grandma, we know God is going to take good care of You. We love you very much.
