Maggie Lowe

Margaret Lowe passed away peacefully on November 8, 2022 after a short battle with cancer.

Margaret was born to William “Ralph” and Jewel Knisley in Wellington, Kansas, the youngest of three children.

Margaret was raised on the family farm in Perth, Kansas, with her brother Jerry and sister Shirley. As a child she could always be found at her father’s coattail even accompanying him to his haircuts where one time she received a flat top haircut of her own. At a young age she spent time with Shirley cooking for the family while having to stand on stools. She also enjoyed spending time with Jerry and Shirley riding horses and eating milk cream while Mom was away hoping to not get caught.

Margaret graduated from Wellington High School. Following graduation from high school she married Wayne Wencel, and to this union Robbie and Tyann were born. Later, she married Alfred Lowe, and to this union Todd was born.

Margaret treasured her family and life as a farmer’s wife. She also worked as a cosmetologist, CNA, and girls’ basketball coach where she had the opportunity to positively impact many lives. She was crafty, a talented painter and quilter, and an exceptional seamstress, making all of Tyann’s prom dresses and her wedding dress. She loved being outdoors, watching wildlife, and family trips to Colorado.

Margaret had an incredible love for animals. She had many spoiled pets including dogs, cats, ferrets, horses, and was even known to domesticate racoons and deer. Margaret was known for never turning down an opportunity to help others and care for their pets.

Margaret was also an avid OU sports fan having attended football, basketball, and softball games. Although she was smaller and known as a quiet person, she was usually the loudest person in attendance. She could also often be found watching and having conversations with the teams through the television. She also enjoyed going to and supporting her grandkids at their sporting events.

Margaret was predeceased by her parents, husband Alfred, and sons, Robbie and Todd.

She is survived by her daughter Tyann Orton and husband Kelly of Wellington, Kansas; brother Jerry Knisley of Arma, Kansas; sister Shirley Weiss of Denver, Colorado; daughter-in-law, Jan Wencel of Caldwell, Kansas.
