Raymond Ross Pearson was born September 15, 1921 in Grant County, Oklahoma, the seventh child born to R. W. and Hattie (Kiser) Pearson. As a young teenager, Raymond started working as a cement mason and continued that job for over 50 years. Raymond served in the United States Army from 1942 until his discharge in 1945. After retirement, Raymond became an avid fisherman living on the banks of a river in a dirt floor cabin for almost 10 years. He had a love for farming and cattle and eventually ended up back in Grant County raising cattle and wheat. At one time Raymond had 40 head of cattle and named them all.
Raymond passed away quietly in his sleep early Wednesday morning, Oct. 9, 2013 at the age of 92 years, and 24 days.
He leaves to mourn his passing his son Jim of Caldwell, daughter Jeannie Creekmore and her husband Charlie of Wichita, KS; four grandchildren: Frank Schell, Nedra and Joe Ross, Jerry and Shannon Ashley and Michael Schell; five great-grandchildren: Amber, Brandon and Nathan Ashley and Gwynne and Joshua Schell.
A graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at the Caldwell City Cemetery, Caldwell, Kansas.
