Robert H. Myers

December 5, 1924 ~ April 10, 2017

Robert Harry (Bob) Myers, a resident of The Woodlands, TX, died Monday, April 10 at the age of 92. Bob was father to son, Terry and daughter, Donna and beloved husband of his wife of almost 5 years, Ruth.

He was born on December 5, 1924 on his family farm outside Gage, OK, the last of 5 children born to Harry & Etta Ann Myers. He grew up and graduated from school in Blackwell, OK. Robert was called into military service in 1943 during the midst of World War II. He flew 35 missions as a B-24 nosegunner while stationed in Italy. After the war, he returned to Blackwell where he met his wife Juanita. They raised 2 children and were happily married for 49 years until her death in 1996. He was fortunate to find love again and married Phyllis Quickel. They moved to The Woodlands where they enjoyed their time with new friends until her death in 2012. He was blessed yet again to meet his current wife, Ruth Grazier, who brought back the smile to his face in his final years.

Robert’s career spanned over 40 years working at Conoco in Ponca City, OK and later, Houston, as a purchasing agent. After his retirement from Conoco, he worked as a contract procurement agent and expediter for several oil & gas projects in Dubai, Indonesia and Turkey. He always felt that his greatest professional achievements took place after his official retirement.

Bob loved to sing and his booming bass voice could always be heard in whatever group he sang with, be it in the church choir, Barbershop quartet or chorale, or more recently, The Goldenaires at The United Woodlands Methodist Church. He also regaled his friends and family with his frequent harmonica renditions of favorite hymns or old songs.

Robert (Bob) is survived by his wife, Ruth; and by his children, Terry Myers and wife Diane of Franklin Lakes, NJ, and Donna McWillie and her husband, Tom of Spring, TX. He also has 3 grandchildren, Cy Myers, Chloe Myers Pitzer, and Jonathan McWillie; 5 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 18 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Forest Park in The Woodlands, TX. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 19, at 10:30 a.m. at The Woodlands United Methodist Church with a reception immediately following. Burial will be in the Caldwell City Cemetery, Caldwell, KS on Friday, April 21, 2017 at 10:30 a.m.

Memorial donations may be made to The Woodlands United Methodist Church Foundation, 2200 Lake Woodlands Dr., The Woodlands, TX 77380.
