June 17, 1955 ~ June 13, 2015
Tanya Jean Williams Wilson, 59, was born June 17th, 1955 to James Kenneth Williams and Kathryn Lorene Carter Williams in Caldwell Kansas. Tanya was the middle child born after Steve and Kirk, followed by Jim and Lori.
Tanya had many fond memories of growing up on the farm west of Caldwell, one of her favorites was drawing play houses in the dirt in the grove of trees across the road south of the house. Having laid the walls and doors out she would then have little brother Jim come into the house to play, according to Tanya she would always get upset with Jim because he refused to use the doors she had laid out, instead he would walk through the imaginary walls.
Tanya met her future husband Steve the summer of her sophomore year and they were married on July 2nd 1972. Tanya completed high school after they were married graduating with the CHS class of 1973.
Tanya and Steve started their life together in Medicine Lodge KS where she worked in the various cafes and clubs in Medicine Lodge. In 1974 they moved to Dodge City where Tanya began her career working for Centel as a receptionist in the Dodge City office. Through the 16 year career with Centel she was promoted to cashier, assistant to the division manager and finally the management position of New Business Rep where she was responsible for collections and arrangements of non-pay customers. In 1990 Tanya and Steve moved to Harper KS, she gave up her career with Centel and went to work for KGS in Attica KS. At KGS, Tanya was responsible for all the DOT compliance procedures associated with the plant at Attica. In 1999 Tanya went to work for the City of Harper as the City Clerk, she retired in 2010 as the City Administrator of Harper KS, a position she took great pride in. Upon her retirement Tanya and Steve moved to the little farm north of Caldwell where they lived at the time of her death, June 13, 2015.
Tanya felt her greatest accomplishment though was the birth of her daughter Chelsi Linn on October 16th 1987 and then the birth of her granddaughter Avi Kathryn Atkins on July 24th 2009. Tanya loved the time spent with Avi Kathryn on the little farm, watching her take care of the cats and exploring in the forest around the farm. Tanya was named YaYa by Avi Kathryn, a name she loved and held dear to her heart.
Tanya was preceded in death by both parents Jim and Katie Williams, brother Steve, uncle Kelly LaVern Carter and his wife Renie, uncle Ronnie Frazier, grandparents Clifford and Addie Williams and Kelly and Neva Carter, mother-in-law Donna Kathryn Wilson.
Tanya is survived by husband Steve of the home, daughter Chelsi and granddaughter Avi Kathryn of Wellingotn, brother Kirk of Wellington, brother Jim (Belinda) of Okeene, OK, sister Lori of Wellington, sister Kelly Shoffner (Jeff) of Wichita, sister Jan Wencel (Robbie) of Caldwell, aunt Betty Frazier, aunt Kathy Risley and aunt Gwen Rice, all of Caldwell, father Jerry Wilson of Wellington, many nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and classmates.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Tanya's memory to the Caldwell High School Alumni Association or to the Davita Dialysis Center, 250 W. Red Powell Dr., Derby, Kansas 67037.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 20, 2015 at the United Methodist Church in Corbin, Kansas.

Still so hard to believe. Loved working with Tanya when she was City Administrator and I was on city council. She did her job very well and I could always count on her for information. She loved that job, but also loved moving to the country with Steve and enjoying her family and grandchild. Prayers for her family.

I am deeply saddened and shocked to hear of your loss. I will always remember Tanya as a sweet, kind person who always had good things to say about others and a joy of living that radiated in her smile.
In a time such as this, I know that words barely bring some solace and comfort, but know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers.
