Tina Welch



Tina Welch, 61, formerly of Viola, Kansas went home to Jesus on January 30th , 2022 at Patterson Hospital. Tina was born the last of five children in Wichita, KS to Fonzy and Sally Robertson.


Tina married Danny Hall on September 3rd 1983 and raised Jennifer, Dylan, Elva, and Amber in Viola before Danny’s passing in 1999. Tina remarried Thomas Welch on July 14th of 2001, shortly after they moved to Harper, Kansas. Tina earned an Associate of Arts in Drama/Performance and went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in English/Speech/Drama. She earned a Master of Science in Adult and Continuing Education and Teaching and a certification from Wichita State University in Secondary English/Speech/Drama and Education. She taught at Andale High School and Goddard High School.


Tina worked for FedEx and lived in Plymouth, Massachusetts for several years. Afterwards, Tina went on to teach at Cowley County Community College. After marrying Thomas and moving to Harper, Tina worked as the library Director for 11 years. Tina then worked for the Clearwater Library 6 years and helped foster and grow the teen club.


Tina loved to read and loved musicals, like the Rocky Horror Picture Show. She always made time for the grandchildren and their activities and loved to play monopoly cards with the kids and grandkids. She always made sure to visit the local libraries wherever she travelled.


She was predeceased by her first husband Danny, her brother Fonzy Jr, and her parents.


Survivors include her husband Thomas of Harper; children Jennifer Hall of Osawatomie, KS, Sam Welch of Derby, KS, Elva Maltbie of Haysville, KS, and Dylan Hall of San Antonio, TX. She is also survived by her siblings Diana of Wichita, KS, Jeanie of Viola, KS, and David of Viola, KS. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren.


Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 5, 2022 at the Viola Baptist Church in Viola, Kansas with inurnment to follow at the Viola Cemetery.


Memorials may be made to the Clearwater Public Library and sent in care of the mortuary.
